Against the backdrop of the Cascade Range of Bend, Oregon and nestled within the breathtaking landscapes, this family’s house became the backdrop for a documentary family photoshoot. As soon as, Astacia reached out to book a family photoshoot that felt authentically like them right on their own property, I was so pumped. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do.
When it comes to documentary family photography it sets itself apart from conventional photoshoots by embracing authenticity over artifice.
No two photography sessions of mine will ever be identical and that’s my specialty. While the focus is not on orchestrated poses or artificial smiles, but on capturing the genuine interactions and emotions that define family dynamics. It’s about embracing the imperfections and celebrating the raw beauty of everyday life.
Obviously I wanted to capture all the fleeting moments of an evening out at their tiny ranch. Going from each animal as the sun started to set. While each frame told a story of love, connection, and shared moments. It was a chance to witness the family’s genuine love for their home and the life they’ve built together.
The day drew to a close by the swing set with laughter and playfulness. Since a guitar session filled the evening air with melodies that echoed the bonds of this incredible family. It added to the whole experience while bringing the family even closer together.
